A Maserati jewel on wheels

Among the high end sports racing cars that grace the world of sports, the name of Maserati stands tall. This is one company that has been associated with sport throughout its span of existence. After around 40 years of absence, Maserati made its presence felt with the production of the amazing MC12 in the year 2004. The MC12 was Maserati’s signal that it was returning to the racing circuit. This was a car version of which 50 pieces were produced as of 2005, with 5 being retained by Maserati for themselves.

Part of the glory and the success of the MC12 stems from the fact it gained name at the FIA GT. This put the stamp of race worthiness on the latest Maserati wonder. The MC 12 was built as well as designed on the chassis of the Enzo Ferrari, but as a car it is much longer and larger than the Enzo, and it also has much lower drag coefficient. The MC12 boasts wider, longer and taller dimensions, and also has smoother curves and sharper nose as compared to the Enzo Ferrari. The MC12 has a top speed of 330 kilometers per hour as compared to the 350 kilometers per hour notched up by the Enzo Ferrari. This indicates that the larger dimensions of the MC12 ensure that the Enzo Ferrari is faster and also has much greater braking power than the MC12.

The MC12 happens to be a two-door coupe which also has a targa top roof. It has mid-rear layout which keeps it stable and road hugging, thereby improving the ability of the car to negotiate sharp turns and corners.

The interiors of the MC12 are quite plush and luxurious. These are made of a mix of gel-coated carbon fiber and blue leather, along with silver Brightex, which is quite an expensive material.
