The Onassis family has been in the spotlight for years. Everyone knows that the family has money, power and prestige. In fact, there is one Onassis that was once known as “the richest little girl in the world”. Athina Onassis is the daughter of Christina Onassis and Thierry Roussel (an heir in his own right). She was born in France, Neuilly-sur-Seine to be exact in January of 1985. Her mother died when she was three leaving her to be raised by her father and his mistress.
Aside from being an heiress, Athina also is a well known show jumper. For those who are not familiar with the term, it refers to a style of equestrian (horse) events that can include dressage, hunters, eventing, equitation and jumping and is generally done in the English style.
All of that being said this girl has some serious bling. She has so much of it that she is auctioning off some of the more ostentatious pieces at an auction being held at Christie’s. She is said to consider most of what she is selling to be of a bygone era and therefore she has no need of it.
Among the pieces to be auctioned is a Harry Winston ring set with a 14.79 carat diamond and estimated to be worth over a million dollars. There is also a Faberge Buddha with an estimated value of half a million dollars. Bidders will also have the opportunity to bid on a 38 carat pear shaped diamond as well as a diamond and ruby Van Cleef and Arpel necklace.
The auction is expected to bring in over 11.8 million dollars, not that it will even be a drop in the bucket for her. Although, it might help to pay whatever taxes a billionaire has to pay at the end of the year.
