Movies make not only the actors famous, but the items that they use or wear as well. This is the case of the Porsche 911S that has been used in the famous movie Le Mans. The movie has been created in 1970 and one of the most famous sequences of the movie is the opening one, when the hotshot Porsche driver, Michael Delaney drives through the French countryside and contemplates regarding death, life and racing.
The car itself has been built according to the highest standards of 1970, and so it comes with air conditioning, and every factory option that has been available at that time.
Another interesting fact about the car is that Steve McQueen has been using it for his personal transportation during the shooting of the movie. Later the car has become part of his own collection, along with several Ferraris, Porsches, Jaguars, airplanes, motorcycles and almost everything that you can possibly think of.
At the moment the car is in an exceptional condition, and it will be presented by RM Auctions that is known as one of the largest collector car auction houses. The auction will be held in California on August 18-20, and at the moment there is almost no information regarding the price that the car will have. Naturally we can expect the new owner to be one of the most well known car collectors, because only a truly passionate person would be able to spend large sums of money on a car that he will never get to use.
This car might raise the interest of the amateur car collectors as well, but the truth is that probably they cannot keep up with the bids made by the other collectors. Whatever happens we can be sure that the car will be in good hands.
