The world's greatest golf course ready to be built

When US tycoon Donald Trump plans on something, he does not ever plan small or half hearted. Trump is so well around the US and indeed around the globe for his larger than life projects as well as lavish buildings that he owns not only in Las Vegas but also around various parts of the world. If it is outrageous and if it is opulent, you can be sure that it is trademark Donald Trump.

Trump has now set his sights on creating the largest and the biggest golf course ever in Aberdeen, along the windswept stretch of the Scottish coastline. Scotland is said to be where golf originated and it is in the fitness of things that this hugely opulent 1 billion pounds golf course project be located in the birthplace of the game.

This huge golf course project has not been without controversy. Trump’s projects are generally quite controversial as controversy seems to be Donald’s second name. The Scottish government has doggedly refused permission for this gargantuan golf course for as long as 3 years now and the proposal have been finally approved after all this time.

The golf course would not come alone, but would be accompanied by the construction of a brand new village which would have its own pubs, cafes and retail stores. It is another matter that a go-ahead has not been given for the development of a hotel as well as residential village for holiday accommodation which are the next two phases of the project.

Much of the opposition to the project has also come in from environmentalists who are afraid that this project would upset the ecological balance of the area and destroy its natural sand dunes. Local archeologists are also worried that the Stone Age dwellers that used to stay in the area have left behind archeological remains that need to be fully and carefully excavated first.
