Schweizer 300CBi – slick and practical luxury bird
Schweizer started producing quality machines in 1983 after take over of 269 series helicopters from Hughes. Somehow initial tests proved it expensive and extravagant model to maintain and operate. In 1995, with learning from past mistakes Schweizer built more efficient model called 300CB. 300CB was in comparison with R22 and also didn’t perform as per desires. But, Schweizer again worked hard and stroked back with its new development in 2002, 300 CBi.
300 CBi is designed for training purpose and is easy to fly model for beginners. Fully upgraded technology and easier mechanism draw 300 CBi in category of stable helicopters in two-seater series helicopters. Comparing with teetering rotor system 300 CBi is equipped with 3 bladed main rotor that gives more tolerant to malfunctioning. Comparing to R22 it is heavier and easy to learn machine. Fuel injected engines relieves pilot to keep a continuous monitoring of carburetor temperature and there are less possibilities of engine failure. Limitation of 300 CBi is its speed which runs at 85mph. Manual throttle control is mandatory for the pilot because its lacking rotor rpm governor.
Other disadvantages are like lack of separate luggage compartment is due to spacious accommodating cabin and there is no other storage provided for items but however, this is the helicopter meant for training purpose so, not suitable for outing, or business purpose traveling.
Due to fantastic vision provided, 300 CBi is one of the most loveable engines by the low hours pilot and beginners, even rare view is also good till some extent. RPM adjustments and correlator eases pilots to fly with less monitoring on system controls. For longer transport 300CBi is not suitable due to speed limitations. If you are at learner stage then 300CBi is perfectly suitable for your requirements but, certainly not proper for private transport or commercial use.
