Flaming lips or how to build a luxury extreme
The music finally blends with extreme architecture design. As anyone knows the famous Wayne Coyne, lately he decided to renovate his place at Oklahoma and transformed it into something both artistic and functional.
As the front man of the popular rock band The Flaming Lips, he got the master plan to bring imagination to life. The Flaming lips house was worked by Fitzsimmons Architects and studio of construction.
This project has already got public acclaimed and published by several medias including The New York Times in 2008, The Design Milk, and News OK both in 2010.
Renovating an ordinary house to be something extremely luxurious could be a difficult challenge. As a rock music icon, Wayne Coyne with his wife, both looking for luxury and the state of art got the right idea how to do that.
Keeping the essential and original elements when a big transformation is required, means a lot. Before the renovation, the exterior consisted of red painted doors and pale concrete walls.
So, Fitzsimmons Architects tried to keep the red elements while adding a lot of glass materials to let the sunshine light up the inspiration for the rock star and his wife, who is working as a photographer and also an artist. The existing low roof structure was removed and the roof raised high, included with decks and terraces.
Equipped with various hidden doors and passage ways, it’s possible to go into the Bunker directly from the Private areas in the house. The bunker itself is now used as the music studio, where the bands could rehearse and record some great music. The unique thing that makes this house looks more precious and luxurious is the design of the family room, where we could find the customized seats uniquely in the bathing pods tub portion.
There, they could feel the warmth from the unique fireplace which is perfectly harmonized with the ceiling above.
