Frank Lloyd Wright has always been well known as a designer par excellence. There are many creations that he has been credited with, over the years and the Ennis House is a masterpiece that he had created way back in 1924.
The Ennis Hose is made fully of concrete and concrete is what stands out as its most defining characteristic. Everything, from the rooms, to the pillars and down to the swimming pool is made of concrete. The superstructure of the building is enduringly durable, which explains the fact that it has stood the test of time and still stands tall and quite majestic in its demeanor. There have been restorations to the house though in view of the earthquakes that had threatened its stability.
The Ennis House resplendent in all its pristine glory and nothing can take away from its splendor, given the fact that it is built in the Mayan style of architecture. There are many who say that Ennis House is a great example of the Mayan Revival style of creating buildings, which is reminiscent of Mayan culture and heritage.
The Ennis House is such a fine example of architecture and is so wonderful in its sprawl that it has been the site of many movie shootings. This house has not one but two main buildings. There is a main house and across a paved courtyard there is another house that was originally planned for the chauffeur. The house is huge with as many as 10,000 square feet contained in its massive structure. There are quite a few bedrooms along with which you have a dining room, the guestroom and the living room. All of these are made out of concrete and the whole house is painted white for great effect.
Ennis House is currently evaluated at the impressive amount of $15 million. But its impressive design and outstanding qualities are worth every penny.
