Tanzania and the coral reef paradise to own
If you ever go to Tanzania, make sure that you pay a visit to the East African coast, where you will find a semi-autonomous region that is known for having about 400 fish species. All this can be found at the African island of Zanzibar. Although it has a wonderful underwater ecosystem including a coral reef, before 1990 there has been no legislation to protect the area.
In 1992 Sibylle Riedmiller created a private island property that is a lot more than a simple eco refuge. It is recognized by the authorities of Zanzibar and during the years it has won numerous awards for ecological tourism and conservation.
While at the beginning there have been no residents of the island, at the moment there are seven eco-bungalows, just a few meters away from the Indian Ocean. Since at the moment this African Paradise is protected against any form of fishing and bombardment of boat anchors, the coral reef has remained untouched and it is said to be one of the most beautiful of them all.
The water is quite shallow around the beach, snorkelers can also enjoy the sights that until now have been reserved only for divers. In case you make a trip here you will get the chance of seeing parrotfish, groupers, butterfly fish, batfish and also triggerfish.
Even in case you aren’t adventurous enough to have some fun in the water, you will find the evidence of its presence on land as well; keep an eye out for the remains of giant clams. In the eastern side of the island, where because of the salty air it is impossible for the plants to survive, you will find petrified giant corals and clams.
Why would you miss out on enjoying this gift that has been given to use by nature?
