Hollywood money and the 300 million toy
If you were a mogul and you had a megayacht where would you go to show it off? To Mallorca of course. This is the place where the Hollywood tycoon David Geffen decided to show off his new toy of $300 million. The luxury yacht got the name of Pelorus. The former owner of the yacht has been Roman Abravomich who sold the motor yacht a few months ago.
At the moment Geffen can say about himself that he owns two megayachts that are among the top 20 largest yachts of the world. Last year he bought Rising Sun that is of 453 feet from Larry Ellison.
This new acquisition comes with two helipads, a spa pool, a swimming pool, and also the private owner’s deck that offers 180 degrees panoramic view.
Although most probably Geffen has been very proud of his new little toy of high class yachting, he has been upstaged by another billionaire that seems to be obsessed with having big yachts. His name is Andrey Melnichenko. His yacht is called ‘A’ and it has been designed by Philippe Starck. The yacht is of 390 feet, larger than Pelorus, and at the moment it is considered to be the 15th largest yacht of them all.
We have to say that ‘A’ isn’t less impressive than the other yacht. It comes with bath faucets worth of $40,000, $60,000 worth stair banisters and a master suite that is totally white. This is surrounded by bulletproof glass and it can be accessed through a silver plated staircase. In order to make sure that not everybody can access the suite, it can only be opened with the fingerprint of the owner.
These toys are parts of luxury boating that every person would like to play with a little, just for a cruise or two.
