A supersonic jet for the future of corporate luxury travel
Supersonic business jets, due to their high costs, loud noises and short range as well as the environmental damage, have gained a bad reputation in the market in spite of the speed they offer. These drawbacks and stringent criteria to ensure economy and eco-credentials have made the supersonic business jets almost vanish from the world of air travels.
But now all thanks to the QSST (Quiet Supersonic Transport) you may once again travel in a supersonic business jet. Taking all the drawbacks into consideration and upgrading to the new technology, QSST seems to get the supersonic planes back on the route. This could be the first civilian supersonic plane to receive a green signal for overland routes. The strategy put down by the company seems to be quiet impressive. QSST has promised to launch jets that will meet all the criteria. In other words, the jets will be much quieter; will have a range of about 4000 nautical miles and a nominal speed of Mach 1.8 (or 1,188 miles per hour).
The QSST; though resembling the general shape of the existing supersonic Jet, Concorde is almost half or less than half its size and has the most fine-tuned aerodynamic features to control the pressure generated during the displacement of air the jet is about to take-off. Its “V-shaped” tail and the advanced engine design have helped it in maintaining the noise level between the standard norms and at the same time meet the emission standard.
The Jet is designed in a manner that it can accommodate almost 12 passengers in executive level comfort and can be used as commercial and business jets.
With all these features, SAI (Supersonic Aerospace International) is all set to launch its new jets in the market earliest by 2014.
