The alternative for new luxury jets
Ok, so by now everyone has heard about private jets and chartered jets or flights. It seems that especially in China more and more individuals and corporations alike are looking into options for buying these jets. What are the reasons for this?
For individuals purchasing a jet can be a status symbol. Also, if they are frequent flyers…..very frequent flyers, it could be that buying a jet might save them money. For businesses, this could be an investment if there are frequent business meetings where the employees have to travel across the country or even across the world. Either way, it can be seen as a means to avoid the hassle of buying tickets, checking in and dealing with annoying passengers sharing a flight with you on a commercial flight. It offers a sense of peace and definitely better flying conditions inside the plane itself.
So, how much does a privet jet cost? You can get one for around $5 million or even for as much as $60 million US dollars. Therein lies the rub. Is it really feasible to buy a jet? There are other options out there. Aside from outright purchasing a jet, you can also lease a jet, share a jet (think timeshare), or even just charter one as needed.
If you are just looking for a little privacy on your infrequent flights, then maybe a charter would be for you. If you are looking to be the elite among your friends in terms of status, then go ahead and buy one. Be advised that just like a car, these machines need a constant influx of money for everything from maintenance and fuel to hangars, crew, and insurance. Be sure that you can afford to do this before even looking to purchase one.
