A J-class spectacular sailing masterpiece at a spectacular price
Yacht enthusiasts are all aware of and revere the legendary J-class. The J Class yachts were luxury sailing yachts that had been designed during the years 1930-1937. They were popular among the rich who loved to race in the America’s Cup. A yacht qualified as J Class yacht, when it satisfied the Universal Rule of Nathanael Herreshoff. The Universal Rule was used to identify if a Yacht was eligible to race in the Cup.
The largest J Class yacht was meant to be 44 meters long and was designed by Olin Stephens and Starling Burgess for Ranger Syndicate. For some reasons the yacht known as “77F” was never constructed.
Hoek Design from Netherlands took it as a challenge and honor to construct the largest J Class. The celebrated design has now been executed though a few liberties were taken to modernize the concept. The luxury sailing yacht was build in aluminum at the Classen Jachbouw, Zaandam. Named the Lionheart, this classic beauty is now up for grabs. It is being sold via Yachting Partners International. This luxury yacht is for sale for 14.9 million euros.
Hoek Design has designed the sleek Lionheart as a luxury sailing yacht that can cruise and race too. The yacht has been designed with two cockpits and deckhouses, giving it maximum versatility. This sailing beauty is waiting for its proud owner.
The J Class Yachts are a class apart and are still coveted. Hoek Design now plans to build two more modern versions of the J Class Boat, one of them Syea, being the replica of a popular 1973 racer. The other, Atlantis is a 1935 design.
Soon yacht lovers will have luxury sailing yachts from the 1930’s with a modern twist that it will only make them better and more coveted. So if you want to own one of these beauties, be prepared to loosen your metamorphic purse strings.
