Perhaps you never thought about it, but do you think life is possible without having planes, super fast cars and amazing ships?

If the answer is no, then you should take a closer look to the history of the transportation. The old methods of transportation are far greener and which is more, they are eco-friendly. One French company is trying to recreate these old methods of transportation with their floating jewel- the old British ship Bessie Ellen.

This old lady was built in 1904 in England and it is still sailing. Actually soon it will be the oldest sailing ketch in the world. Now Bessie Ellen has a new mission, 106 year after her creation.

The French company Chateau Smith Haut Lafitte has always cared for the environment, therefore they send Bessie Ellen with precious cargo.

The old ship will be exporting wine by the old methods of transportation. Nearly 20 000 bottles of wine will be transported from Bordeaux to Montreal in 25-day sailing trip. The ship will also carry some other expensive wines, part of them owned by the Danish royal family. Of course this kind of transportation will cost more and will take longer than using the container ship, but according to the specialist this voyage will have another benefit.

The wine experts are claiming that this trip will improve the wine and will hasten the aging process. The green activists are also pleased by Bessie Ellen`s new mission. According to them, this will be one of the greenest exports in the last 10 years.

The French owners of the old British ship are offering Bessie for sale as the price is only 435 000 Euros, which isn’t that high price for a historical ship. The floating beauty has been upgraded with the latest technology as the original design of the boat is kept.
